Elijah McCoy, considered one of the major inventors in American life, was born on this day in 1844 in Ontario, Canada. An engineer, his inventions were so good that the term ‘the Real McCoy’ came to mean the real thing.
On this day in 1920, the first ever game of the Negro National League in Baseball was played in Indianapolis. The Indianapolis ABCs played Chicago Giants in Washington Park in Indianapolis.
