Louis Farrakhan was born on this day in 1933 in New York City as Louis Eugene Walcott. His first rose to stardom as a musician in the early fifties. He changed his name to Louis X when he joined the Nation of Islam. After serving as a Minister at several mosques, he was appointed Elijah Mohammed’s National Representative. He has been the leader of the Nation of Islam since 1978.
