Whether one calls it the Tulsa Race Massacre, the Greenwood Massacre, Black Wall Street Massacre, or the Tulsa Pogrom, what started on this day in 1921 will always live in infamy. For two nights, whites, armed with weapons by city officials including planes, attacked Black people, their shops, banks, churches, and schools. It is estimated that an area of 35 square blocks were razed to the ground.
