Jazz great Clifford Benjamin Brown, at only 25 years old, died in a tragic accident on this day in 1956 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.



 



The great intellectual W.E.B. Dubois, a founder of the NAACP in 1909, resigned from the organization on this day in 1934. He gave a speech titled “A Negro Nation within a Nation”.
