Aime’ Fernand David Cesaire, poet, essayist, author and politician, who had been a major theoretician of the African struggles against colonialism and colonization and Negritude, died on this day in Martinique in 2008 at the ripe old age of 94.


 


Frederick August Wilson, playwright, poet, and essayist won his second Pulitzer Prize for his play Piano Lesson on this day in 1990.
